All works are still in progress and are presented here for feedback.

What’s your reaction to Hooks, Take 1?

Artists and the community will be deliberating aspects what we call the “Hooks” associated with each verse in the Legends and History of Freedom. Snippets of the oratorio, Exodus, will soon be open for public feedback about melodies, rhythm, lyric, instrumentation…

Another question might be, how many repeats in the Exodus verse, and if none, where which one to remove?

Deliberate lyrics for choral hooks

The hooks each have different melodies, timing and lyrics. . Each verse has a lyric fitting to it, and will include 2 instrumental measures and possibly also lyrics of the other three. How would the other lyrics tie-in, or shall we create unifying, lyric harmony as separate chorus or intervening transition to following songs? How would the four example approaches to freedom interplay with options we have as to which person is called – first person singular, and plural, a second person plea and third person recognition of mercy. Only the first is self directed with group support. The second puts forward a group effort made possible by ourselves. The third is our appeal for mercy on behalf of all those in debt to willing debtors. The fourth is all-inculsive call for deliberation.

Deliberate slowing down end of each hook

We are wondering whether to slow down the tail ends of each of the four hooks to break up the steady march beat, fit the prosody of the words, and add a sweet twist to the hypnotic drone. Scratch tracks of these ideas pending.
